Crossing the Line- A Study of the Actor/Director Relationship
The importance of a solid, trusting relationship between a director and their actor cannot be understated. It can transform a performance from ‘good' to 'deeply moving'. Yet, this connection is regretfully rare.
The experience, education, and perspective which makes a great director is very different from what makes a great actor. Further complicating the situation is the reality that personalities are unique; no two actors and no two directors work the same way.
In this course, Actor/Director Richard L Bergh will show how this special chemistry can be cultivated by learning empathy, trust, boundaries, understanding, and communication specific to directors and actors. Through an open discussion and interactive experience over the span of 6 weeks, students will learn a new respect for the power of this relationship.
Class will meet virtually zia Zoom, once a week for 6 weeks, starting Tuesday February 23rd, 2021, 3:30-5:30 pm (contact us for requests on different days/times, or for a weekly syllabus), for $375 ($300 for ALUMNI). Registration (below) is REQUIRED, along with payment in full, or a $50 Deposit.
