Next Level Filmmaking will explore the world of filmmaking in a more detailed manner than Intro to Filmmaking. Class is held weekly for a total of 8-10 weeks from 6 pm to 9 pm. The primary instructor will be Brad Hoover. Contact us if you are interested in additional start dates, and register below to reserve a spot.
For 2023, Next Level will be offered beginning Tuesday March 7th, 6:15-9:45 pm.
This 10 week course will focus on a longer and more complex short film than that completed in Intro to Filmmaking. Students will come to class with some experience, but will improve their skills in Pre-production (including story pitches, screenwriting, location scouting, actor casting, storyboard creation and shot lists), Production (with more complex camera operations using professional equipment) and Post-production (using Adobe Premiere and more creative edits) of a 10-15 minute short film. There will be a minimum of two shooting days, as well as an actor audition day (dates/times to be determined in class, dependent on actor, student, and location availability) that will be held outside of regular class. Students as a group will also be responsible for providing craft services for the actors on shooting days.
Prior completion of Intro to Filmmaking or comparable experience will be prerequisites. Students should come to the first class with a Story Pitch/Idea to begin the process of story selection! Cost for the course is $595 ($476 for Alumni), with the registration form below. Payment plans are available for Alumni for a small fee. An additional $50 non-refundable deposit will be needed to secure the registration. Tuition will include access to all equipment, as well as a copy of the final film for reels and resume, and a film screening at a local theater!
