The short remains the best way for a writer or director to hone their craft, demonstrate their potential, and have their films screened in front of a live audience. This 5-week class will focus on what makes the short different from other story types, how to work within its limitations, and how to use it to maximum potential. Participants will learn the secret to grounding that first spark of inspiration into an authentic and powerful manifestation of their unique voice. The Art of Writing Shorts: Everything you need to know to write effective short films is taught by local creative writer R. Lyon Bergh. This workshop-style class meets Saturdays from from 10 am- 12:30 pm, starting February 17th, 2024.
Participants should be present for all classes, comfortable working and sharing with others, and able to commit to 2 - 4 hours of home study per week. The last class a an interactive showcase using live actors, and may be extended by up to an hour depending on class size. All special needs will be accommodated whenever possible, so please let us know about your differences at the time of registration.
Cost for the course is $295 ($236 for Alumni), and the registration form and payment link is found below. A $50 non-refundable registration fee will be needed to secure the registration.
