Camera Blocking workshop

Image Size, Angle and Movement
In a well constructed film, image can (and should be) an equal partner with dialog in carrying the story telling
weight. Learn the importance of well thought out camera position, image size, lens focal length and camera
movement in this class as we discuss and demonstrate the effect these choices have on the overall meanings
conveyed to an audience.
What effect does changing the camera height above or below an actor’s eye level have on the audience’s percep-
tion of that character? What does a shot of an actor that includes a “piece” of another character imply? What
about a “single” shot of that same actor? What feeling accompanies “hand-held-movement” as opposed to move-
ment on a dolly or other stabilization device. What is a “Dutch” angle and what does it mean within the context
of a story?
Explore these and many other camera blocking considerations in this immersive hands-on 2 day workshop on Saturday & Sunday, March 3rd - 4th, 2018, 10 am-5pm with instructor Brad Hoover. Cost is $150 ($120 for ALUMNI) for the weekend. Register with the form below, and submit a 20% deposit 2 weeks prior to class to guarantee placement.
