Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd are among the funniest men in movie history. They were not merely popular comics of the 1920's, but two of the greatest, creative, and innovative filmmakers the industry has known.

Join us as guest instructor, renowned author, and film historian Frank Thompson guides us through "Keaton and Lloyd,” a two-day event at the Asheville School of Film. Class will be held from 1- 5pm, Saturday January 16th and Sunday 17th, 2016.  Frank will show you why these legendary comedians do much more than just make us laugh.

Through photographs, film clips, and rare footage you will explore their greatest moments, both as performers and as directors in the Silent Era. You will examine the precision and athleticism of their gags and the almost mechanical intricacy of their filmmaking methods. You will see moments of near death at the expense of an audience laugh. And you will see why, after nearly a century, their films remain vital and alive – and hilarious -- and why so many of them deserve to be called masterpieces.

Enjoy the these unique films of the past, and learn from a nationally respected film historian how Keaton and Lloyd contributed to the Film Industry.  Come prepared to laugh and stay to be amazed!

Weekend instruction fee is $50 for both days.   Pay with check, credit card, cash, or money order.  Register by email or the Registration Form below.
